|
||
Revelation 10:5-6, And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, 6: And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer: |

2. | INTRODUCTION | |

3. | FIVE POINTS TO THE MESSAGE
d. | And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea
1. | Revelation 10:5-6, And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, 6: And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:
2. | I believe that it becomes abundantly clear now that this angel could not be the Lord Jesus Christ.
3. | We know that Jesus was the creator of it all. John 1:1-2, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2: The same was in the beginning with God. 14: And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
4. | Jesus says in John 8:58, Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
5. | There should be no question that Christ was the Creator.
6. | John 1:3, All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
7. | Colossians 1:16 sets things straight. For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
8. | The angel takes the oath in the name of the Lord Jesus, who is in Heaven and as an ambassador he is claiming things for Jesus Christ.
9. | It is not long before the return of the Lord Jesus Christ to Earth.
10. | He reminds us in Matthew 24:22, And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
11.
|
The angel is telling the elect that is not long before things are set in order.
12. | Remember the prayers of the martyrs in Revelation 6:10, And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
13. | They ask the Lord how long? Matthew 6:10, Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. The coming Kingdom is very near now as the Lord Jesus Christ is about to come back and take care of business for God the Father. |
e. | But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel,
1. | Revelation 10:7, But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.
2. | I believe that the great tribulation period is drawing to a close.
3. | Notice that it ends with the voice of the seventh angel. “the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound,”
4. | “when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished,” – I cannot comment further on this verse because I do not understand what it means about the mysteries of God.
5. | This is something that is concealed to us; however, we will continue to follow our literal interpretation and not speculate on God’s Word. He says “he hath declared to his servants the prophets.”
6. | We do know that Jesus will come back and those days will be shortened. |
f. | And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again,
1. | Revelation 10:8, And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.
2. | Notice the divine order. This book passes from God the Father, to God the Son, to the angel and then to John.
3. | The order comes directly from Jesus Christ.
4. | He is in full charge and able to make all decisions.
5. | Revelation told us about the glorious wonderful glorified Christ who sits at the right hand of the Father, and is clearly identified for us in Revelation Chapter 1 and Revelation Chapter 19
6. | He is above every name on the face of the earth. There are none that are equal to Him.
7. | This angel is not the Lord Jesus Christ. He has given the order to the angel to speak from heaven.
8. | John, apparently returns to earth now in the spirit because the little book that was formally in the hand of God the Father is now transferred to John. |
g. | And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book.
1. | Revelation 10:9-10, And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey. 10: And I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
2. | At first glance this seems strange that John would be required to eat the book, but, when we compare Scripture with Scripture, we find out that this means we are to eat the Word of God as we receive it by faith.
3. | Jeremiah 15:16, Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.
4. | Jeremiah likens the appropriation of the Word of God in our lives to eating it. Psalms 119:103, How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
5. | Ezekiel does the same thing. Ezekiel 3:1-3, Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel. 2: So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll. 3: And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.
6. | The roll here is not bread; it is the Word of God. The act of eating the book symbolizes the absorption and the assimilation of the Word of God. For John and believers the words that were written were sweet as honey. But for those that are to be tormented in Hell for the rest of eternity. John then tasted the bitterness as he knew God was about to take back the Earth that Adam sold to Satan.
7. | This is what the Word of God does in the life of a believer. That is the reason why we need to soak up the Word on every occasion. John 12:48, He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
8. | Proverbs 16:24, Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. Psalms 119:103, How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
9. | Part of the Word of God that John was eating, was judgment. When judgment is announced is not sweet it tends to be bitter.
10. | Genesis 18:17, And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; In effect He was telling Abraham He was his friend and will reveal all to him.
11. | Part of the bitter is the judgment that is coming. For those who are saved and born again it is sweet as honey. The act of eating represents understanding and the appropriation of the prophetic revelation. The message is sweet because at last the Kingdom promised is about to be fulfilled. It is bitter because it can only be accomplished through more judgment and tribulation. This sweetness is the beautiful message received but the bitterness is the disappointment when they refuse the message. The bitterness also reflects terrible judgment as well.
12. | We should realize that we don’t study prophesy because of curiosity, or because we want to try and predict the future.
13. | We just need to understand as believers what God is up to.
14. | When we understand that and we have taken our rightful place in this life, and we have demonstrated holy living and saturated our heart and minds with the Word of God, and winning souls for Christ, then we know the Word of God is sweet to us.
15. | We all need to be thirst and hungry for the Word of God. Matthew 5:6, Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. John 6:35, And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. 1 John 3:3, And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
16. | When we take the Word of God literally, rightly divided, we understand that it is precious.
17. | When we hold God’s Word in awe, we do not speculate on His Word. Psalms 119:161, Princes have persecuted me without a cause: but my heart standeth in awe of thy word.
18. | We find that the Preserved Word of God is awesome. No question about it! |
h. | Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.
1. | Revelation 10:11, And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.
2. | John ate the book and is ready to go prophesy to God’s people.
3. | He is ready to tell all nations and tongues and people what God is up to and what He is about.
4. | They need to hear the warning of the judgment that is coming.
5. | We need to know that there is a great tribulation coming, we need to know that God will sit on the Throne and rule and reign for a thousand years.
6. | John has revealed all of this to us.
7. | The reason why the book became bitter is because of the judgments that are going to come forth on the earth.
8. | Will the saints go through it? No they are preserved forever. Psalms 37:28, For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off. Revelation 3:10, Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. |
4. | CONCLUSION | |
a. | My sinner friend, if you don’t know Jesus as personal Saviour, none of this is possible for you.
b. | Would you come to the side of the living Saviour today?
c. | Regardless of the fact that we have projected ourselves into eternity, the present is we must come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ in this life.
d. | If we don’t know Him, we will be subjected to the wrath of God.
e. | The Bible says in Romans 3:23, For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
f. | Romans 3:10, As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
g. | Romans 10:9-10, That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10: For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
h. | Matthew 11:28-29, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29: Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
i. | Would you come to the side of the living Saviour today and be saved.
